"This piece, conceived on the eve of the new millennium, depicts a woman previewing the landscape of a new era which lies before her. The gently rolling hills welcome her into the unknown while the distant, glowing horizon beckons her toward a new day rising, containing within it all her hopes, dreams, struggles, and triumphs which lie ahead in the new century. In many ways, the 20th century was one which saw unprecedented progress for women in many parts of the world, and the 21st will likely continue in the same vein. This woman---today's woman---rises to greet her new century and the expanded part she will take in forming it."
