Great Expectations - In Words
While the hollowing out of images is an adventurous approach to a two dimensional visual art, the simplification of the images helps to demystify their seemingly complex metaphor. The illusion of hollowness invites the viewers to infuse themselves into the characters. Of course I expect the viewers to suspend their sense of disbelief if only to begin to relate to the image. It is to miss the point, profoundly so, for the viewers to perceive ‘Great Expectations’ as a vessel in which to stash optimism rather than a receptor to what they yearn for.
